We’re seeking well-written, organized articles for potential placement in Nourishing Bytes, which is distributed to over 16,000 holistic health professionals, students, and enthusiasts.
Please note: Article selection for inclusion in Nourishing Bytes is at the sole discretion of the NANP.
Submission Guidelines & Procedures
All articles must be submitted as a Word document and follow the requirements below:
- Include your headshot (.jpg or .png file)
- Include a current Curriculum Vitae (CV) or resume
- Include a short biography (150-200 words)
Peer Review Process
NANP’s Continuing Education Committee members perform a blind peer review of submissions. The Committee may:
- accept the article as-is
- ask you to revise and resubmit
- reject the article
The author’s identity will be kept confidential throughout the entire peer-review process, which may take several weeks. Once completed, you will receive a copy of the reviewer’s notes, any requests for revisions, or the final determination. Acceptance and publication are at the sole discretion of the NANP.
Exclusivity
By submitting an article for use in Nourishing Bytes, you certify that the material has not and will not be seen in any other publications before it appears in Nourishing Bytes.
Article Requirements
Word Count
- Minimum 1,500 words; not to exceed 5,000
- Word count does not include references, bibliography, or author biography
- Introduction/abstract, body with methodology, and outcome/conclusion
References/Sources
- Evidence-informed (EIP) citations: 8-12 per 1,000 words
- Citations and supporting research should consist of the following:
- 80% or more published within 5-8 years
- 10% or less seminal or historic
- 10% or less older than eight years
- Sources should be scholarly and/or original work. Examples: Research literature review; original research, such as dietary or nutrient protocol development with clinical documentation; excerpt from a larger work, such as an unpublished manuscript that provides insights into nutrition practice, including business development.
- Graphs, charts, and diagrams are recommended and should be provided in .png or .jpg format. Papers with embedded images are not recommended. All images must have attributes and be the property of the author.

NANP understands that APA is not used internationally, nor is it suitable for all article submissions. Other format styles require approval before submission. Additional information on formatting styles can be found at http://www.collegescholarships.org/mla-apa-cms-styles.htm.
Article Criteria
NANP welcomes articles that address topics such as food, supplements, herbs, athletic performance, and lifestyle recommendations. The topic must be relevant and applicable to the field of nutrition.
- Human health is the foundation of holistic nutrition practice and should be the basis of the research and any protocol recommendations. The article must be based on the author’s research into science, clinical practice, culinary application, historical archives, or cultural use.
- Any notation about supplements must be generic and cannot be used for advertising or sales promotion purposes. All supplement references are subject to review by the Continuing Education Committee.
- Before submitting an article for consideration, please ensure it is written within your Scope of Practice.
Continuing Education Credit (CEC)
- 5 CE credits will be awarded on approval of the paper
