North Carolina licenses dietitians as “licensed dietitian nutritionists” and nutritionists as “licensed nutritionists.” There are no licensing requirements for holistic nutrition professionals and they may work within their scope of practice, however, they may not provide Medical Nutrition Therapy which is defined as “The provision of nutrition care services for the purpose of managing or treating a medical condition.
